How to tell what you’ve got
If you’ve got a smaller handheld torch
And when you pull the electrode out — both ends look exactly the same
👉 that’s your torch — grab the right plasma cutter consumables
They all come out of the same sort of factories

That double-ended electrode is the giveaway
Another easy way to tell
Grab the torch
Turn the machine on
Pull the trigger
If a flame comes out of the torch → that’s pilot arc
If it just sits there and makes a buzzing noise → that’s scratch start
If it’s scratch start
And you’ve got that double-ended electrode
That’s a PT31 / LG40 style torch
If a flame comes out of the torch
You’re not running a PT31 / LG40
That’ll be something else
